Think John Wayne, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Clint Eastwood, Audie Murphy and Randolph Scott. The belt holster can be worn in a variety of ways. You can wear it close to the body and relatively high. Or you can wear the holster cowboy style which is draped behind the hip bone slightly. A belt holster can be concealed by a long jacket or an untucked shirt.

Shoulder Holsters

These holsters are made with two straps that are connected together - similar to a backpack. The holster is mounted to the strap on either the left or right side. In order to use this holster, the wearer must be wearing a vest or jacket in order to conceal the holster and strap harness. This shoulder holster is easier to wear as it is located near the center of the body. This is the typical style that you would see the vice cops wearing in the television shows.

Belly Holster

The belly holster is probably the most uncomfortable holster to wear. It consists of a built-in holster within a wide elastic belt. This holster must be worn extremely tight to remain in place and is considered to be quite uncomfortable - like wearing a girdle! The holster is worn beneath a shirt which is worn untucked in order to allow holster access.. These holsters can place the gun anywhere from the front of the body to underneath the armpit.

Concealed Weapon Holsters

These are made to conceal smaller handguns. These holsters are generally found in either the pocket of the wearer or at the ankle beneath the pant leg. Every good spy movie shows the use of these holsters. This holster style is often used by law enforcement personnel who wish to carry a smaller secondary weapon.
